Our CEO's story

Tools for trades came to fruition because our CEO was pushed into the trades through his own ambition. Growing up in the DC area, Matt always had a passion for motorcycles. While in school, he was constantly told to stop drawing pictures of motorcycles. He was classified a special needs student. Matt suffers from learning disabilities including dyslexia, and ADHD which landed him in small classes. After many complaints by his teachers... he was started on focus medication late in his 10th grade year. It was at this point he was finally able to focus on learning, however about subjects he didn't care about. For the first time Matt excelled in subjects like math and history but barely passed science.  While continuing his schooling, Matt maintained a focus on his true passions: baseball, golf and motorcycles. He expressed interest in attending a trade school, but this idea was shut down by his school counselor. Matt began to look for colleges to play golf for however this was idea was short lived due to a hatred of competitive golf. Pushed into going to the local community college, he felt stuck. While working as a golf attendant, he heard about Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. With one text to his mom, and the financial backing from his parents, he was off to trade school and never looked back.
